Submitted By Dianne Skirving on Thursday, October 1, 2020
Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs’ professional hockey talents were in the mix at the NHL Stanley Cup with two players with Jr. Bulldogs’ connections fighting for hockey’s biggest crown - Carter Verhaeghe of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nick Caamano of the Dallas Stars.

Carter Verhaeghe – Tampa Bay Lightning played Minor Midget hockey with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs before he was drafted 38th overall in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection by the Niagara IceDogs

He was a third round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2013 NHL Entry Draft before being dealt twice, landing with the New York Islanders before being acquired by Tampa Bay.

Verhaeghe made his NHL debut on October 3, 2019 against the Florida Panthers. He picked up his first NHL point with an assist on October 5, 2019 against Florida Panthers.

Nicholas Caamano – Dallas Stars played Minor Midget hockey with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs before he was drafted by the Plymouth Whalers in the second round (27th overall) of the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

He was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Caamano made his NHL debut on October 5, 2019 against the St. Louis Blues. He scored his first career NHL goal on October 8, 2019 against the Washington Capitals.

Congratulations from the HJB Members on your participation in the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Finals.
