The Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs Bantam will be heading out to Windsor, ON this weekend as one of the five teams representing Ontario in the 2019 OHL-HPHL Battle of the Border.

The 6th Annual OHL Battle of the Border showcase in partnership with the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL) will take place on the weekend of Friday, November 8, 2019 to Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the WFCU in Windsor, ON. This event brings together the prospects from both sides of the border for a weekend of competition featuring many top players eligible for the OHL Priority Selection.

A total of 36 games will be played at the WFCU Centre, home of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires between 24 teams divided into the Bantam Under -14 Division (introduced this season) and the Minor Midget Under-15 Division. All games will have three 17-minute periods with a flood occurring midway through the second period.  There will be a 3-on-3 overtime should games be tied after regulation time, followed by a three-man shootout if there is no overtime goal.  Total points accumulated by each country will determine the ‘Battle of the Border’ Champion.  Teams receive three points for a win, one point for each tie, and one extra point for an overtime or shootout win.  The United States have won all five events to date.

Under-14 Bantam teams representing Ontario include the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs (OMHA – SCTA), Mississauga Reps (GTHL), Oakville Rangers (OMHA – SCTA), Sun County Panthers (ALLIANCE), Toronto Jr. Canadians (GTHL) and Windsor Jr. Spitfires (Alliance).

HPHL teams in the U14 division include Chicago Mission, Chicago Young Americans, Detroit Compuware, Detroit Honeybaked, Oakland Grizzlies, and Team Illinois.

Under-15 Minor Midget teams representing Ontario include the Ajax-Pickering Raiders (OMHA – ETA), Southern Tier Admirals (OMHA – SCTA), Sun County Panthers (Alliance), Toronto Jr. Canadians (GTHL), Toronto Marlboros (GTHL), Toronto Titans (GTHL).

In addition to the competition on the ice, players and their families will have the opportunity to watch the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires practice on Saturday morning at 10:30am at the WFCU-Grenon Rink and then at their game at 7:05pm at the WFCU- Main Bowl against the North Bay Battalion.

From 4:30pm to 5:30pm there will be a Parents OHL Information Seminar at Collavino Hall.  This Information Seminar will focus on areas such as the OHL League’s scholarship program, professional support programs, development opportunities, benefits, player environment, and safety, health and welfare programs.
