SPORTS Wednesday, August 29, 2018 Hamilton Spectator
It's one thing to
represent your city and your province in a national tournament. When you lead
your team with two goals and two assists to the championship, it's extra
special.
Clark Dunford, a
12-year-old student at R.A. Riddell School Sport Academy and member of the
Hamilton Lacrosse Association, represented Ontario as a member of the Ontario's
Peewee lacrosse team.
The team, comprised of 11- and 12-year-old lacrosse players from throughout Ontario, competed for the national championship against players from throughout Canada.
During the 10-day tournament held during the provincial lacrosse festival in Whitby from Aug. 3 -12, Ontario remained undefeated during round robin play.
The championship game was held Aug. 12 against a strong team comprised of First Nations players from throughout North America.
Dunford led the Ontario team offence with two goals and two assists in a resounding 9-1 victory.
This completed a strong lacrosse season with a Local Zone 9 B Championship followed by Hamilton Bengal's Peewee Provincial Championship in overtime vs. London Blue Devils on Aug. 5 when he scored a pair of goals in the overtime period.
Next up for Dunford, the hockey season with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs '06. Congratulations from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs and best of luck in the upcoming season!
