Jr. Bulldogs 2018-19 Head Coach Announcement Stu Wright – 2003 MINOR MIDGET
Submitted By Dianne Skirving on Mon 02 19, 18
Stu Wright played his Minor Hockey in Stoney Creek then went on to play junior for the Stoney Creek Jr. C Warriors for 3 years and Burlington Jr. B Cougars for 1 year.  Stu Wright brings 30 years experience as a Head Coach behind the benches of teams from minor hockey to junior hockey.

Some highlights of Stu’s achievements as a Head Coach are 1 Niagara District Regional Championship, 2 Tri-County Championships, 1 OMHA Bronze Medal, 2 OMHA Silver Medals,  4 OMHA Championships and Quarter Final in the OHL Gold Cup.

During his coaching years Stu said he had the opportunity to coach a lot of great athletes (and lots of young men who educated him along the way) who went on to play Junior, NCAA and the NHL some of who were: Kevin Bieksa, Ray Emery, Mark Popovic, Brett Nasby, Kyle Hagle and Jason Harshaw.

Stu’s main focus is to present a consistent and positive message while focusing on the players’ process of development to achieve their full potential. Stu’s philosophy is to
provide a learning environment that is constantly challenging for the players to develop their skills so that the players can assess, evaluate and correct themselves in competitive situations to produce the best possible performance.

Mike Christian a Hamilton born and raised hockey product spent his first 9 years playing hockey as a Goaltender.  At the age of 14 he started his career as a forward with Glanbrook Minor Hockey playing one season as a midget forward.  The next season Mike made the Glanbrook Jr. C Rangers amassing 29 points in 31 games and 179 pim.  Mike was drafted in the 4th round to the Guelph Storm 1996 OHL Priority draft.  Mike spent the 96-97 season between the Burlington Cougars and the Guelph Storm.  In 97-98 after being traded to the Barrie Colts he would win an OHL Championship and lose in the 2000 Memorial Cup final to Rimouski.  Mike would get an opportunity as a walk on with the Dallas Stars and after playing two games with the Dallas affiliate Utah; Mike returned home and was signed by the Detroit Red Wings affiliate Toledo Storm where unfortunately his career would be cut short by a concussion.  Mike returned home and has been coaching Junior hockey in Caledonia, Dundas and Glanbrook respectfully over the last 18 years.

Mike has a talent for developing young hockey players and knows exactly what it takes to get the most out of them on the ice.  A great teacher of the game but more importantly a great leader who wants to help these young hockey players become exceptional men. His teams are known for playing relentless, fast paced, and a highly skilled level of hockey.

Also joining Mike and Stu is Julian Guastadisegni. Julian has spent the last 3 seasons working as a trainer in Jr. C hockey - spending his first 2 seasons with the Dundas Blues, and his last with the Glanbrook Rangers. Julian graduated from McMaster University in 2013 with a Kinesiology Degree and spent several years working as a Personal Trainer and Kinesiologist before going back to school in 2015. Julian is a licensed RMT practicing out of the Integrative Health Centre in Dundas with Chiropractor Dr. Nicole Ciaralo-Wilson and her team, as well as Restorative Touch Physiotherapy on the Hamilton Mountain with Physiotherapist Marilena Savina and her team. An avid hockey enthusiast, Julian is passionate about helping these young men become the best that they can be both on and off the ice and will be responsible for off- ice training as well as providing therapy and medical assistance when required

The Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs are pleased to welcome back Stu Wright  as the Head Coach  of the 2003 Minor Midget AAA Team for the upcoming 2018/2019 season.  We are also looking forward to working with Mike Christian and Julian Guastadisegni.  We are sure that the passion, enthusiasm and leadership that these gentlemen bring with them will guide this Team to continued success.
